Work with our Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Team

The Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol (MHDA) Service in Far West Local Health District is looking for people who want to make a difference.

Whether you are new to the workforce or have lots of experience; whether you have worked in the bush before or have never stepped foot outside a city, there is a place for you in the Far West MHDA Service if you are keen to question, learn, grow, innovate and participate.

If you share our passion for putting the consumer at the centre of care, supporting the people who are most important to them as their main care providers, and least restrictive care, we would love to talk to you.

We are looking for Registered Nurses to work in our 6 bed Mental Health Inpatient Unit – both permanent and casual positions are available. It’s a small ward, but it has low occupancy (76% in 2016-17). It is part of the Productive Wards Program and is supported by a NUM, CNS 2 and CNCs.

Occasionally there are also positions in our other teams. The MHDA Information Book gives an overview of these services and the programs we support.

New recruits will get a comprehensive orientation, a buddy to help you settle in quickly, plenty of opportunities for professional development, meaningful work that is supported by senior MHDA staff members, and a workplace culture that emphasises personal accountability, recognition for a job well done and a feedback loop between staff, managers and the Executive Team.

For more information about our vacancies, contact Jodie Miller, Deputy Director MHDA, on 08 8080 1539 or Jodie.miller@health.nsw.gov.au.
